Yauco Mayor Ángel Luis “Luigi” Torres Ortiz was full of praise about the progress of the work that celebrates “our history” at the remodeled Plaza del Mercado.
“The interior is a thing of beauty,” the mayor said of the plaza. “It’s like being in a big museum with impactful urban art, full of color and, above all, full of history of the town.”
“The works are mouth watering,” he said. “We continue to be focused on the reconstruction of the principal structure, its accessibility, and renovation of the green areas.”
The remodeling of the impressive structure seeks to promote, more than ever, the economic development of businesses in Yauco’s urban center and adjacent areas, and to bring much more life to the urban center through a series of initiatives that Torres Ortiz says “could be as colorful as the Placita de Santurce in the Municipality of San Juan.”
“I can guarantee you that our new Plaza del Mercado will enchant you,” he said. “It will be very attractive.”
“We are making a series of aesthetic improvements that include paint, change of lighting, the installation of industrial fans, and walls that keep the pigeons out, among other things,” the mayor said. “We are also working on the restrooms and the [adjacent] plazas.”
