The Luz Escénica Ministry has announced a second performance of the Christian musical “Jesus, Better Than Anything,” this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Dominguito, Arecibo.
The ministry has received numerous calls from people wanting to see the musical, which speaks directly about the meaning of Jesus’ birth and the plan of salvation God promised from the creation of the world.
The first performance, scheduled for this Friday, Dec. 12, is fully booked. On Nov. 30, at the Church of the Nazarene in Dominguito, Arecibo -- the venue for the musical -- the actors were introduced and some of the songs from the show were performed live.
“We are very happy and, of course, we thank God because in this first opportunity to perform this artistic piece, we already have a fully booked first performance. But we’re aiming for more; people keep calling, because we don’t want anyone to miss out on the blessing of ‘Jesus, Better Than Anything,’” director Marena González Ortiz said. “In this musical, they will laugh, cry, sing, but above all, it will teach them the meaning of the Creator’s birth and allow them to see Christmas from a different perspective than what people are traditionally used to.” The piece stars Kelianis Molina (Angie) and Oniel Chaparro (Gaby), who portray two angels embarking on a journey through different biblical eras to discover who the promised savior will be. Along their journey, they encounter iconic figures from the Bible, making the work a family-friendly, inspiring and deeply reflective musical experience for the whole family.
