The Integrated Transit Authority (ATI by its initials in Spanish) reported Thursday that work was continuing to restore service to the Urban Train between Bayamón and Martínez Nadal, which remained out of service.

Agency personnel, in conjunction with the private operator ACI-Herzog and specialized technicians, had made progress in cable removal, installation and testing, and work on electrical substations, the ATI said in a written statement.

At the Bayamón and Deportivo stations, technical adjustments to the main transformer protection system were completed. The technical documentation has already been submitted to LUMA, and reconnection was expected to resume power to the area.

Damaged cables were removed between the Jardines and Martínez Nadal stations, underground manholes were prepared, and the installation of new cables was to begin today. Electrical testing and certification will then follow.

At the Torrimar station, the removal and installation of inter-substation cables had been completed, along with electrical testing and record preparation. Connectors for splices were being installed Thursday and certification testing was underway.

The ATI stated that trains were already in operation at 10 of the system’s 16 stations, and the remaining six had intermodal bus service as an alternative for users.
