12 other appointments submitted to Senate

Gov. Jenniffer González Colón appointed accountant María Marín Colón on Monday as interim director of the Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resiliency (COR3), effective July 1, and submitted 12 other appointments to the Senate.
Marín Colón had been serving as deputy director of COR3 since February 2025, where she participated in managing over $30 billion in federal funds for Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation programs.
In that role, she was responsible for tasks related to validating the proper use of federal funds prior to disbursement and executing projects with municipalities, agencies and non-profit entities.
The appointee has over 20 years of experience in accounting, government, insurance, banking and public service, specializing in agency administration, regulatory compliance, project management and financial oversight.
At COR3, she also served as chief infrastructure and operations officer starting in 2023.
Previously, Marín Colón worked at the Office of the Insurance Commissioner between 2017 and 2023 and served as finance director for the Housing Department’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds from 2021 to 2022.
Marín Colón also held positions at BDO Puerto Rico, MassMutual Puerto Rico General Agency, Scotiabank de Puerto Rico and Banco Santander de Puerto Rico.
Earlier, the governor submitted 12 appointments requiring Senate advice and consent, including that of Carlos Ríos Pierluisi as secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (see story on page 3), and for Superior Court judges and assistant prosecutors II (on a promotional basis), as well as for the Postsecondary Institutions Board.
