Manuel Reyes Alfonso, president of the Independent Expenditure Committee for the economic development of Puerto Rico, Democracy is Prosperity (DEP by its initials in Spanish), announced on Monday his advertising campaigns in support of 33 legislative candidates for seats in the island House of Representatives and Senate in the general elections on Nov. 5.

“With this new stage, we have fulfilled the objective of using our freedom of expression, as a private sector, for the first time to support legislative candidates who represent the best possibilities for prosperity for Puerto Rico, and we do so following the highest standards of transparency, ethics and responsibility,” Reyes Alfonso said in a written statement.

“Voters should also reject candidates who focus on handing out what we have not produced and who consistently disparage entrepreneurs who take risks and invest their capital to create jobs and wealth, because they see them as the problem and not the solution,” he added. “Such candidates will be incapable of leading us to prosperity.”

The media investment of over $1.5 million includes advertisements in favor of candidates from various political parties.
