Education Secretary Eliezer Ramos Parés announced on Tuesday the awarding of $3,000 scholarships to 26 students from 15 public schools who will represent Puerto Rico at the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Today, we recognize 26 students who exemplify discipline, talent, and a commitment to excellence,” Ramos Parés said in a written statement. “Each of them represents the fruit of the work being carried out in our public schools.”

“This scholarship not only supports their international participation but also validates the collective effort of the students, teachers, and mentors who have guided them through this process,” he added. “We continue to strengthen the fields of science and mathematics as a strategic priority, convinced that this is where the island’s future is built.”

The delegation consists of students from schools within the seven regional education offices located in Arecibo, Bayamón, Caguas, Humacao, Mayagüez, Ponce and San Juan. The participants excel in disciplines such as microbiology, engineering, environmental science, physics, chemistry, software systems and mathematics.

In highlighting the role of the teachers and educational facilitators who have supported the students throughout the process, Ramos Parés noted that the educators will also participate in professional development experiences related to scientific and mathematical research.

Participation in the Regeneron ISEF offers students the opportunity to present their projects, exchange knowledge, and gain exposure to high-level academic environments. Through the initiative, the Education Department seeks to foster the development of student talent and promote opportunities for students within the public school system to compete on an international stage.
