Four horses electrocuted after power pole falls in Utuado

An incident involving live power lines caused the death of four horses Thursday morning in the Sabana Grande neighborhood of Utuado, police reported.


According to the official report, officers assigned to the Utuado Precinct were alerted at 5:25 a.m. by a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System about a fallen pole and power lines on highway PR-611, kilometer 4.6.


Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Mariel Ríos Heredia found the four horses dead, having received an electric shock caused by the live power lines that fell on the grounds of two residences in the area.


Personnel from the Utuado Fire Department, Emergency Management, and LUMA Energy worked at the scene to address the situation.


No injuries were reported. The police were continuing the investigation.
