The Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation (FPV by its initials in Spanish) announced this week a series of measures set to transform the technical and operational landscape of Puerto Rican volleyball, paving the way toward the highly anticipated VoleiCon 2025, the National Volleyball Congress.
Among the most notable announcements, the FPV officially designated the PEAK ball as the sole authorized ball for all federation competitions, including youth categories, the Men’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSM), the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF), the Beach Volleyball League, and all national events. Moreover, any tournament not organized by the FPV that wishes to use the institutional logo must adopt the PEAK ball as its standard.
On the educational front, the FPV unveiled its new continuing education policy, requiring coaches, referees and national officials to complete 12 hours of annual training to renew their affiliation. This initiative, endorsed by the International Volleyball Federation and NORCECA (the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation), will officially take effect in the 2026–2027 federation year.
Additionally, a structured certification system for coaches was introduced, divided into three progressive levels (Level I, II and III), aimed at professionalizing instruction and ensuring consistency in athlete development. To coach in FPV-sanctioned events, passing the Level I course will be mandatory. The course covers technical, tactical, pedagogical, psychological and regulatory fundamentals. The certification will be valid for two years and requires active affiliation.
All the aforementioned initiatives -- the full policy is available at www.fedpurvoli.com, under the FPV DOCUMENTS section -- converge at VoleiCon 2025, which is shaping up to be the epicenter of the island’s volleyball transformation. The event will serve as the official platform to fulfill continuing education hours, obtain certifications, participate in workshops, and strengthen the sports community with an institutional, commercial and human vision.
“We are building a stronger, more professional, and united volleyball,” FPV President Dr. César H. Trabanco said. “VoleiCon will be the space to train, connect, and celebrate who we are as a federation and as a country.”
The FPV invites its entire community to be part of the historic gathering that merges training and competition in an environment of holistic development.
