Governor appoints new deputy chief of staff

Gov. Jenniffer González Colón appointed attorney Pedro César de Jesús Román on Monday as deputy chief of staff at La Fortaleza, a position he assumed immediately.

Since Jan. 11, 2025, de Jesús Román had been serving as a senior executive adviser to the Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority, the Office of the Chief of Staff, and the Public-Private Partnerships Authority.

According to La Fortaleza, the attorney has over 20 years of experience in public administration, municipal affairs and law. His background includes leading organizational reforms, coordinating emergency responses with state and federal agencies, and developing government policies.

Within the Office of Management and Budget, he held positions such as senior public relations manager for the Smart Island Broadband Program, director of the Municipal Management Office and the Legal Department, and chief legal adviser.

Previously, he worked as chief legal Adviser for the Department of Transportation and Public Works, the Public Housing Administration and the Municipality of San Juan. He also founded and managed De Jesús Law Firm for 15 years.

De Jesús Román will work alongside Chief of Staff Norma Burgos Andújar to coordinate and implement González Colón’s public policy from the chief of staff’s office within La Fortaleza.
