Guaynabo Mayor Edward O’Neill Rosa announced Thursday the disbursement of a special $1,200 bonus to a total of 2,037 municipal employees, in recognition of the commitment, effort and service they provide daily to the public.
The total investment for the initiative amounts to $2.6 million and is to be deposited directly into the employees’ accounts.
“With this bonus, we reaffirm our gratitude to the public servants of Guaynabo, whose constant and professional work allows us to continue providing excellent services to our people,” the mayor said. “This incentive is a well-deserved recognition of their commitment to the city and to each citizen we serve from our offices, brigades, and municipal facilities.”
The mayor emphasized that the benefit has been possible thanks to the sound and responsible management of municipal funds, along with the implementation of prudent administrative measures that have allowed for the control of public spending without affecting essential services or halting the development of public works throughout the city.
“Our priority has always been to maintain a balance between the well-being of our employees and the progress of Guaynabo,” O’Neill Rosa said. “Thanks to efficient fiscal planning, today we can reward those who make it possible for the city to continue growing.”
The mayor also urged employees to use their bonus responsibly, recommending that, to the extent possible, they use it for savings or to purchase school supplies for their school-age children.
“We are approaching the start of the new academic year, and we know that many families face significant expenses,” he said. “This can be a good opportunity to support our children’s education and ease the financial burden on our working families.”
