Arecibo District Sen. Héctor “Gaby” González López announced on Sunday that a Health and Services Fair will be held this Thursday in Arecibo.

The event, organized in coordination with the Arecibo Municipal Administration, aims to bring government services and direct assistance closer to the residents of the district.

The fair will be held on María de Hostos Street (in front of the Arecibo Cathedral), from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

González emphasized the importance of the event.

“This is a great opportunity for people who have any pending paperwork with a government agency, as we will be centralizing services,” he said. “We urge everyone in our district to take advantage of this great opportunity and concentration of resources.”

In addition to receiving services from multiple agencies, attendees will enjoy several benefits. Hot meals will be offered to the first 200 people who arrive at the event, and food boxes will also be distributed to the first 300 people. To liven up the day, which marks the beginning of the Christmas season, the event will feature live music and the participation of local artisans.

The fair will feature the presence of more than 20 island government agencies, in addition to that of the municipal administration.

Confirmed agencies include the Department of Labor and Human Resources, the Community Socio-Economic Institute, Conexión Laboral Norte Central, the Office of the Ombudsman for the Elderly, and the State Insurance Fund Corp. Also participating will be Legal Services of Puerto Rico, the departments of Economic Development and Commerce, Agriculture, and Health, and the Puerto Rico Police, among numerous other agencies and public corporations, including LUMA Energy, the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority and the Citizen’s Ombudsman’s Office.
