Medical Sciences Campus graduates134 specialists, swears in new physicians

The School of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico’s Medical Sciences Campus graduated 134 specialists and subspecialists across 35 programs, in addition to swearing in 96 new physicians and six scientists from the Class of 2026, it was reported on Wednesday.


During the resident graduation ceremony, held at the Caribe Hilton Hotel, physicians were recognized for completing between three and five years of specialized training following the attainment of their medical degrees.


Of the total number of graduating residents, 75 will remain in Puerto Rico -- including 12 who will continue their subspecialty studies or fellowships on the island.


The specialties and subspecialties represented include internal medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, urology, neurology, sports medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry, cardiology, nephrology, and endocrinology.


As part of the same day’s events, 96 medical students reaffirmed their commitment to the medical profession by taking the traditional oath.


Of this group of new physicians, 66% will remain in Puerto Rico to continue their training in 19 medical specialties.
