NPP advances reorganization with municipal elections

A total of 8,636 voters cast ballots in the NPP’s special elections.

A round of elections for the position of municipal presidents of the New Progressive Party (NPP) in several municipalities of the island took place on Monday as part of the reorganization of the collectivity around Puerto Rico. 

The winners were Luis Rodríguez (Luquillo), Evelyn Aponte (Caguas), Glenn Cintrón (Guayama), Isaac Hernández (Mayagüez), Tony Montalvo (Arecibo), Bryan Estevez (San Sebastián) and Julio Geige (Humacao). 

It was reported that a total of 8,636 voters went to the polls in these special elections of the NPP, a significant number as part of the internal and re-election processes of the governor, Jenniffer González Colón, as well as to achieve victory in those municipalities where the party did not prevail during the last elections. 

The winners were Luis Rodríguez (Luquillo), Evelyn Aponte (Caguas), Glenn Cintrón (Guayama), Isaac Hernández (Mayagüez), Tony Montalvo (Arecibo), Bryan Estevez (San Sebastián) and Julio Geige (Humacao). The recount of the election corresponding to the municipality of Lares is pending because the difference was only one vote. 

“The New Progressive Party continues to go from strength to strength in its reorganization process and proof of this was the enthusiasm and broad participation in these eight municipalities. This shows the impetus and commitment that exists, behind the excellent work of mobilization. The above anticipates, without a doubt, that we are going to rescue the NPP government in these municipalities, where residents are not satisfied with those who are taking the reins,” said Jorge Santini, secretary general of the NPP.
