The “En Puerto Rico hay trabajo” (There Are Jobs in Puerto Rico) job fair, organized by the Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH), brought together more than 1,600 people at Plaza Las Américas on Thursday.

Attendees sought guidance and job opportunities, while 80 employers participated, offering more than 2,000 available positions.

Held on the mall’s first level -- in the space next to Walgreens -- the event offered full- and part-time employment opportunities across various sectors, including food services, security, maintenance, construction, healthcare, services, education, hospitality, manufacturing, banking and sales, among others.

“Today, we saw hundreds of people arrive with a desire to work, prepare themselves, and explore new opportunities,” DTRH Secretary María del Pilar Vélez Casanova said. “This response confirms the importance of bringing the Department of Labor’s services closer to citizens and creating spaces where employers can connect directly with individuals ready to enter or return to the workforce.”

In addition to the job openings, attendees received guidance from government agencies and various DTRH offices regarding resources and services designed to support job searches and entry into the labor market.

The labor secretary highlighted that the participation of employers and the turnout of job seekers reflect the need to continue promoting direct recruitment initiatives.

“This fair aligns with Governor Jenniffer González Colón’s public policy of strengthening the workforce, expanding opportunities for workers, and bringing government services closer to the public,” Vélez Casanova said. “There are jobs available in Puerto Rico, and our commitment is to continue facilitating the connection between available talent and employers looking to recruit.”
