Popular Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary General Manuel Calderón Cerame told the press earlier this week that as part of the PDP’s preparations for the celebration of the Commonwealth Constitution in Mayagüez, the party’s refoundation is returning to the streets to listen and called on everyone to celebrate the island Constitution together.
“A few weeks ago we celebrated the Western Tour very successfully, where we shared with thousands of ‘populares’ and held eight meetings in four days,” Calderón Cerame said in a written statement. “Now on the Road to Mayagüez Tour, we will hold six meetings in four days throughout Puerto Rico, demonstrating organization, structure and that in the Refoundation, the Popular Democratic Party is supersonic.”
The Commonwealth Constitution is a document signed by both of Puerto Rico’s first two elected governors, Luis Muñoz Marín and Luis A. Ferré. There were 92 citizens from three different political parties who put their work and intellect at the service of all Puerto Ricans, the PDP secretary general noted.
“The PDP, as well as all Puerto Ricans, on July 25 of each year, celebrate our rights, our democracy and our own government,” Calderón Cerame added.
The announced itinerary begins this Saturday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at PDP Committee headquarters in Puerta de Tierra, for residents of San Juan, Guaynabo, Aguas Buenas, Bayamón, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, Trujillo Alto, Cataño and Carolina. On Friday, July 18, it moves on to Ponce from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at PDP Committee headquarters in the southern coastal city, for residents of Ponce, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Jayuya, Adjuntas, Juana Díaz and Villalba.
