Businessman Pedro Rosaly was elected president of the Hecho en Puerto Rico (Made in Puerto Rico) Association on Tuesday, succeeding Mateo Cidre.
“I feel deeply honored to assume the presidency of Hecho en Puerto Rico -- an iconic organization that, for over a century, has championed and promoted the talent, products, and services of our island,” Rosaly said in a written statement.
Rosaly serves as president and CEO of Islandwide Group, a Puerto Rican company with over 58 years of experience in providing integrated logistics and transportation services to local businesses, commercial enterprises, and small and midsize businesses.
Upon assuming the role, the businessman said he would seek to strengthen collaboration among members, support Puerto Rican businesses and foster the island’s economic growth.
“Throughout my tenure at Islandwide, our focus has always been on connecting Puerto Rico -- connecting businesses, people, and opportunities,” he said. “That very same purpose is what I intend to drive forward through the Association.”
Rosaly holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, and a master’s degree in business administration from American University in Washington, D.C.
Alongside the new president, the association unveiled its board of directors, comprising Daniel Rivera, co-founder of Molcajete Foods; José Oramas, general manager of UPS’s Caribbean Division; and Ángel Alvarado, director of strategy within the Purchasing Department at Walmart Puerto Rico.
