Remembering an architect of autonomy

The commemoration of Luis Muñoz Rivera’s birth on July 17, 1859 in his hometown of Barranquitas took place on Sunday. Coordinated by the Office of Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández Rivera (left foreground), the event honored “the legacy of a man who transcended his era and continues to inspire our people,” said Sen. Luis Javier Hernández Ortiz (right background), the Popular Democratic Party minority leader in the upper chamber of the Puerto Rico Legislature. “Honoring Muñoz Rivera means embracing the commitment to continue working for our land with honesty, vision, and deep love,” Hernández Ortiz added.
