San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo, who is running for reelection, presented his proposals for the next four years on Saturday, focused on education and social empowerment.

In the area of education, the “San Juan Educa” initiative stands out, which includes the administration of 10 state schools under the San Juan Municipal Education System, the creation of five “Early Head Start” centers and the implementation of “MakerSpace” innovation spaces in each municipal school. It also proposes integrating artificial intelligence into all municipal schools and establishing an agribusiness curriculum.

In addition, San Juan University College will be expanded with a graduate school and a master’s degree program in nursing, along with the launch of the “Sanjuanera Scholarship” to support students and ensure their entry into the municipality’s labor market.

In terms of social strengthening, Romero proposes the creation of the “Senior Hangar,” a center for senior citizens, as well as a day center for this population. He also has included a multidisciplinary services project for homeless people, the expansion of the Casa Cuna de San Juan, and the expansion of the free transportation service “La Línea de San Juan.”

In addition, the “San Juan te Lleva” program will be developed to support older adults and people with functional diversity, along with the creation of an adaptive and rehabilitation center. A new animal shelter and an equine therapy center will also be built, integrating the community in an inclusive and social welfare approach.
