School Journalism Society honored by Hatillo Legislature

The School Journalism Society of Timoteo Delgado Middle School in Hatillo was recognized this week by the Hatillo Municipal Legislature for its outstanding work in promoting student journalism, developing critical thinking and strengthening communication as a tool for service and education.

A special commission was held in the Hatillo Municipal Legislature earlier this week with the purpose of recognizing the School Journalism Society of Timoteo Delgado Middle School of Hatillo for its outstanding work in promoting student journalism, developing critical thinking and strengthening communication as a tool for service and education.

During the event in the Gilfredy Acevedo Assembly Hall, Hatillo Mayor Carlos E. Román Román congratulated the students, teachers and advisers of the School Journalism Society for their commitment to academic excellence and the responsible dissemination of information. He also emphasized that such initiatives foster leadership, creativity and active youth participation in matters of interest to their community.

Municipal Legislature Vice President Joel García Pérez recognized the effort and dedication of the students, highlighting that school journalism constitutes a valuable platform for developing informed, responsible citizens committed to the truth and public service.

Miguel Alicea Torres, the alternate spokesperson for the Popular Democratic Party delegation in the legislative body, expressed his appreciation to the society for proudly representing Timoteo Delgado Middle School and for becoming an example of the talent, discipline and potential of Hatillo’s youth.

Similarly, Juan J. Peraza Batista, the New Progressive Party delegation spokesperson, highlighted the importance of supporting spaces that promote free expression, analytical thinking and the development of future generations of communicators, urging students to continue cultivating the values ​​of ethics and responsibility in the practice of journalism.

Hatillo Municipal Legislature President Héctor J. Aguilar Romero thanked the students, family members, teaching staff and special guests for their presence, reiterating the legislative body’s commitment to continue recognizing the achievements of Hatillo’s youth and promoting initiatives that strengthen education, leadership and the integral development of new generations.
