Two gastronomic zones created in Caguas

Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel and Caguas Mayor William Miranda Torres made official on Tuesday the creation of two new gastronomic zones in the Criolla City’s traditional urban center and in the Bairoa neighborhood.

“At the Puerto Rico Tourism Company we work with the commitment to increase the capacities for the tourism offer and maximize economic activity in all regions of the island, and the gastronomic sector is a key piece to boost the tourism industry in each region,” Robles Cancel said. “For this reason, we are pleased to start the development of these two new gastronomic routes in Caguas, which we are certain will have a positive impact on tourism and that are projected to inject approximately $58,000 per month into the Criolla City and the entire surrounding region.”

Tuesday’s declarations were part of the promotional launch of the Criolla Trail’s initial phase.

The Caguas mayor added that the Criolla Trail “reaffirms Caguas as the center and heart of Puerto Rican gastronomy.”

“More than a culinary experience, this trail celebrates what we are: a vibrant, diverse, and profoundly Criolla city. Every dish served at our more than 130 restaurants along the route tells stories of tradition, innovation, and Caguas pride,” Miranda Torres said. “We are committed to local talent, tourism, and an economy that is born from what defines us as a people.”

The gastronomic tourism market is regarded as one of the most valuable elements for the growth of the tourism industry, targeting domestic tourism, which also strengthens the destination’s offering to tourists from abroad.
