Visiting Atléticos beat Capitanes in overtime, Mayagüez also wins on the road Sunday night

A last-second shot by Jacob Wiley lifted the Santeros of Aguada over the Osos of Manatí on Monday night in the only Superior National Basketball league game on the schedule.


After a midrange jumper by Kristian Doolittle put Manatí up by a point with two seconds left in the fourth quarter at Ismael Chavalillo Delgado Coliseum in Aguada, Wiley took a cross-court pass and beat the buzzer to give the Santeros a 106-105 victory.


Iván Gándia led Aguada (12-13) with 26 points, while Rigoberto Mendoza and John Jenkins III scored 25 and 21 points, respectively. Wiley finished with 17 points.


Jameer Nelson Jr. led Manatí (10-17) with 26 points, while Doolittle and Tyquan Rolon added 22 and 19 points, respectively.


On Sunday night, the Atléticos of San Germán and the Indios of Mayagüez registered a pair of road wins.

At Manuel “Petaca” Iguina Coliseum in Arecibo, the visiting Atléticos defeated the Capitanes 103-99 in overtime.


The Capitanes went into the halftime break with a 44-35 lead, but the Atléticos responded in  the third quarter to narrow the deficit to two points going into the fourth quarter, which ended with the score tied at 85 points apiece.


In overtime, the visitors imposed their pace and outscored the Capitanes 18-14 to complete the comeback.


André Curbelo recorded a triple-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for San Germán (18-9). Montrezl Harrell added 26 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, while Nick Perkins contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds. 


Timothy Soares finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds for Arecibo (14-9). Ramses Meléndez added 21 points, Cady Lalanne contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, and Derrick Walton Jr. finished with 16 points and eight assists.


At Raymond Dalmau Pérez Coliseum in Quebradillas, meanwhile, the visiting Indios defeated the Piratas, 80-70.


The hosts dominated the first half and went into the break with a 40-27 lead, but Mayagüez rallied in the third quarter to cut the deficit to just two points, 58-56, heading into the final period.


The Indios completed their comeback in the fourth quarter by holding the Piratas to just 12 points and scoring twice that number themselves to nail down the victory.


Tyrell Harrison led Mayagüez (10-15) with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Nathan Sobey added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Eugene German contributed 15 points, six rebounds and seven assists.


Gian Clavell finished with 26 points for Quebradillas (8-19). Phillip Wheeler scored 20 points, while Emmanuel Mudiay added 18 points and five assists.
