The Municipality of Cataño announced that this Friday it will be distributing the $1,000 Christmas bonus to a total of 758 municipal employees who met the legal requirements. The total investment amounts to $758,374.93.
Mayor Julio Alicea Vasallo emphasized Thursday that the municipality’s ability to meet the commitment on time stems from a year marked by fiscal discipline, administrative restructuring and the execution of tangible projects for the community.
“The Christmas Bonus is not a prize: it is a right of every employee who meets the requirements. But to fulfill this responsibility, a municipality must be well-organized, have clear finances, and make sound decisions,” the mayor stated. “Today, Cataño is in that position. After a year of real progress for our town, we can comply with the law responsibly and without adversely affecting the stability of the municipality.”
During 2025, the municipal administration completed key initiatives that are part of the new management’s work plan, such as the optimization of essential services, the operational reorganization in various departments, the start and continuation of important infrastructure projects, improvements to recreational and sports facilities, and the recovery of community spaces for thousands of Cataño residents.
Likewise, the implementation of new technological tools, the strengthening of administrative transparency and responsible fiscal management made it possible to stabilize operations and address outstanding inherited obligations, the mayor noted.
“We have had a year of intense, prudent work aimed at restoring the efficiency that Cataño deserves,” Alicea Vasallo said. “Being able to pay the Christmas Bonus means that we are managing public resources responsibly, without improvisation, and always ensuring the job security of our employees.”
