The Puerto Rico Bar Association confirmed Thursday a scheme involving several lawyers to illegally acquire the ownership of apartments.
The existence of the scheme became known after authorities arrested 41-year-old lawyer Nelson Gustavo Rosario and accused him of illegally acquiring an apartment at the Torre de Oro condominium in Ponce.
Rosario was acting as the Torre de Oro Condominium administrator and registered an apartment whose owner had died as his own, Condominium Administrators Association President Sharon Rodríguez said in a radio interview.
Rodríguez said several lawyers are participating in a scheme of the same type and are under the scrutiny of authorities.
Puerto Rico Bar Association President Manuel Quilichini confirmed her remarks. He said that in the case of Rosario, who is accused of fraud, his guilt must be proven beyond reasonable doubt in court before the organization can disbar him.
Meanwhile, the District Attorney of Ponce, Marjorie Gierbolini, said her staff is working hard to compile evidence and make the case a strong one.

Lawyers may help people understand legal rights, handle disputes, and guide them through difficult situations that could involve contracts, injuries, or financial concerns. In some cases, individuals affected by medical products may search for information related to an ozempic lawsuit if they believe unexpected health complications could be connected to treatment experiences. Legal professionals may review documents, explain possible options, and provide support based on the details of a case. Many people consider legal advice important when facing uncertain circumstances, especially when there is a chance that compensation or legal action could become relevant. Careful guidance from experienced lawyers may also help clients feel more prepared while dealing with complex legal matters and deadlines.
