The Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Association (CCPA) will hold the conference “Fraud: Lie to Me and Tell Me the Truth” on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its headquarters in Hato Rey.
“In recent years, fraudulent activities have increased not only in frequency but also in complexity,” CCPA President David Rodríguez Ortiz said in a written statement. “Given this reality, prevention, training, and the proper use of technological tools are essential. With this event, we aim to provide participants with practical tools for detecting and preventing fraud in today’s digital and business environment.”
During the conference, the FBI’s “Internet Crime Report 2024” will be presented. In addition, experts will discuss schemes such as the “Black Market Peso” and cryptocurrency-related fraud, explain how artificial intelligence can support investigations, discuss the legal framework, and present key strategies for preventing such practices.
“Technology is evolving rapidly, and it is essential to be prepared to face new challenges,” Rodríguez Ortiz said. “Therefore, we invite you to this conference where professionals will share their knowledge and experiences.”
