By Iris Edén Santiago

Special to The Star

wressed in the colors of her flag, Brazilian sensation Anitta’s performance at Coachella was the number one trending topic in the world. Her singing was as hot as the sexy blue and yellow crop top, matching bottom and knee-high boots she donned.

Coachella’s lineup during its first weekend was full of stars, celebrities, global models and influencers. There was a lot of great music and head-turning fashion, because you know that where there is good music … fabulous fashion is not far behind.

The outdoor music and arts festival at the Emporio Polo Club in Indio, California wwas a kaleidoscope of styles and vibes. If asked to describe its fashion DNA, it would be the Grammys meet California beach meet Western. Add a little glimmer, flower power and big sunglasses. Strappy sandals, boots, platforms. … Anything goes, really. Everything works in Coachella. Personality is the name of the look.

So yes, besides the Ferris wheel and fun selfie spots, fashion is front and center. This music festival is the perfect backdrop for celebrities and attendees to try out fads, new trends, vibrant colors and crazy accessories. It is also a destination where brands and designers confirm which trends presented earlier in the year really worked and stuck with fashionistas and customers.

This first weekend we saw a lot of mesh tops and netted dresses, bikini tops, florals, vintage garments and hats. Hats galore, especially the bucket hat, a trend for spring and summer that people are fascinated with. Furry hats, neon hats, hats in cotton, in crochet, knit hats.

Now for the color pink. Pierpaolo Piccioli had one of the best moments of the event with singer Conan Gray wearing his custom Valentino ensemble in hot pink. The Texas-born pop sensation wore a fuchsia sheer dress over fuchsia trousers and candy platform shoes in, yes, fuchsia. Bold and fabulous. Other celebrities dressed in fuchsia were Omar Apollo and Tinashe.

Harry Styles, of course, did not disappoint. His impeccable style and glamour sense are on point. This time, the star shone in a sleeveless multicolor jumpsuit by Gucci. The plunging jumpsuit making the covers of magazines is made with paillettes. The talented Megan Thee Stallion killed it in a futuristic silver bodysuit and a fierce Donna Summer-inspired mane.
