Thousands of people from San Germán are prepared to take to the streets of New York City to participate in the long-awaited National Puerto Rican Day Parade, which this year is dedicated to the “City of Las Lomas.”

In fact, the flag of San Germán will be seen flying on numerous avenues in New York, while a supersized version, donated by José Rafael “Picky” Servera, will be carried in the parade on Sunday, June 9 by no fewer than 30 people.

“We are more than honored that this year’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade is dedicated to our municipality,” said San Germán Mayor Virgilio Olivera Olivera, who thanked Servera for the donation for such an important event. “The flag is 15 feet wide by 22 feet long!”

“We are making a call to all Sangermeños who are in the diaspora, specifically in New York City, so that they can join us and be part of the representation of San Germán,” the mayor added.
