A total of 103 associations and non-profit organizations on Thursday participated in a conference convened by designated Health Secretary Víctor Ramos to take up challenges and programmatic commitments in the Puerto Rico health system.

“We discussed in detail the plan of creating a space to listen to recommendations and of programmatic commitments in health to guarantee that the governmental initiatives respond to the real needs of our population,” Ramos said in a written statement

Participants emphasized initiatives to improve mental health coverage and optimize resources to attend to vulnerable populations, such as older adults and people with chronic diseases.

The participants from associations, among them the Physicians and Surgeons Association of Puerto Rico, the Psychologists Association and the Pharmacists Association, expressed their availability to actively collaborate with the Department of Health in the implementation of the commitments.
