Interventions as part San Blas Half Marathon surveillance plan yield arrests

The Puerto Rico Police Bureau (PRPB) said Monday that a day earlier, agents assigned to the bureau’s drug divisions carried out interventions as part of the surveillance plan for the San Blas de Coamo Half Marathon in which several people were arrested and controlled substances and firearms were seized.


The PRPB reported that Ángel Santiago, Ermys Vega, Luis Almeida, Jorge Santiago, Osvaldo Suárez, Bryan Santiago and Luis Rocha were arrested during the interventions for violations of the Controlled Substances Law.


In the parking lot of the Ecomaxx gas station in Santa Isabel, meanwhile, Jesús Emanuel Toronji Caraballo, 32, a resident of Bayamón, was arrested. Officers seized a 9-millimeter Glock 19 pistol, a Taurus TH-9C pistol, two magazines, 15 9-millimeter caliber ammunition and marijuana during the arrest.


In the Gasolinera Total parking lot located in the Florida neighborhood of Santa Isabel, Carlos Rodríguez, 18 years old, and Maible Bonilla David, 24 years old, were arrested, from whom a Glock 26 9-millimeter caliber pistol, two magazines, and 17 units of 9-millimeter caliber ammunition were seized, along with a small amount of marijuana. The pair was traveling in a black Kia Carnival vehicle believed to have been stolen.


The cases will be consulted with the prosecutor on duty to file the corresponding charges.
