Man kills wife, wounds son, then dies suddenly after barricading himself in his home

According to the preliminary police report, during the incident, the man shot and wounded his wife and his 24-year-old son. Both were taken to a hospital, where the attending physician certified the woman’s death and described the young man’s condition as stable.

A man killed his wife, wounded his son, and died suddenly while being arrested by police on Tuesday after barricading himself in his home in the Clausells neighborhood of Ponce.

Police reported that they received an alert through the 911 Emergency System about a situation involving an armed man who had barricaded himself and his family in their home. After several attempts to engage in dialogue, officers arrested him, and he was treated by paramedics, but he died under circumstances that are still being investigated.

According to the preliminary report, during the incident, the man shot and wounded his wife and his 24-year-old son. Both were taken to a hospital, where the attending physician certified the woman’s death and described the young man’s condition as stable.

It was also reported that a second son, 27 years old, was at the residence but was unharmed.

Agent Joseph Rodríguez, of the Ponce Criminal Investigation Corps’ Homicide Division, took charge of the investigation along with the prosecutor on duty.
