LUMA Energy reported Thursday that a load shedding operation was activated due to power generation deficiencies at the EcoEléctrica plant in Peñuelas, impacting service for some 48,000 customers.
“Some customers are experiencing service interruptions,” the company reported on its social media channels.
According to data updated at noon, the most affected region was Caguas, with 42,703 customers without power, representing 17.05 percent of customers in that area. San Juan, Arecibo and Carolina were next in line with minor outages.
LUMA indicated that it was remaining in communication with the generating companies and would continue to report on the progress of restoring the system.
