Amid an increasingly intense debate about the impact of school stress, academic overload and anxiety in childhood, a story born from the personal experience of a Puerto Rican mother is now consolidating itself as an innovative and sustainable educational proposal.

A decade ago, facing the challenges of raising her children alone while pursuing her career, Haydeliz Ramírez Natal began to question an educational system that, as she observed, was disconnecting children from the true meaning of learning.

What began as a personal quest evolved into At Home Education Center & Afterschool Corp., an educational institution founded by Ramírez that today celebrates 10 years of implementing a model based on neuroeducation, meaningful learning and emotional well-being.

“I didn’t design an academy based on theory. I designed it based on the real-life experience of a mother who wanted to see her children learn without anxiety,” Ramírez said. “Over time, that concern evolved into an educational model grounded in brain science.”

During the first decade of its existence, the institution has consistently developed and applied an approach that breaks with traditional structures, integrating practices such as:

* Groups of a maximum of 10 students per room.

* 90% of learning completed within the classroom.

* Elimination of unnecessary task overload.

* Curricular integration of art, entrepreneurship and agriculture.

* Multisensory strategies based on neuroscientific evidence.

In a context where specialists warn about the impact of chronic stress on the cognitive and emotional development of children, At Home Education Center has positioned itself as a benchmark in the practical application of neuroeducation in Puerto Rico.

With campuses in Arecibo and Manatí, as well as a virtual modality, the institution has impacted hundreds of families seeking a balance between academic performance, emotional regulation, and the comprehensive development of their children.

Today, what began as a mother’s concern has become a structured educational model, led by an internationally certified professional and recognized for its innovative, humane and science-based approach.

The center’s 10th anniversary is not just an institutional celebration. It comes at a crucial moment, when more and more families are questioning the traditional model and seeking real alternatives that promote learning without sacrificing their children’s emotional well-being.
