‘Thank God she said yes,’ because he was saving up for the ring, governor says about engagement

Gov. Pedro Pierluisi

Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia said on Monday that he had been saving money for some time to buy the engagement ring that he gave to Fabiola Ansótegui Blanc.

“Well, I knelt down and asked her properly. And, by the way, a little scared about whether she would say yes,” the governor said in response to questions from the press during an event in Barranquitas. “I asked her, yes, that was on Sunday, Dec. 10, but I did not notify my immediate family until, I think, three days later. That’s why I announced it in the media, I think it was last Thursday, because it was Wednesday that I broke the news to my loved ones; but she did say yes. Thank God, because I was saving for a long time to buy her the ring.”

“But we haven’t decided on the details of when the wedding will be and where,” Pierluisi said. “We have many options; again, we are happy and in the same way, as for the date, we do not have a date at the moment, but we are happy. The future will tell if we make the decision in 2024. There is no date. I will add to that, but let’s hope it will be sometime next year.”

Pierluisi and Ansótegui Blanc, an attorney, began their relationship in mid-2020.
