AMPR delivers 300-plus boxes of food to El Comedor de la Kennedy

Puerto Rico Teachers Association (AMPR by its initials in Spanish) President Víctor Bonilla Sánchez announced Thursday the delivery of more than 300 sorted boxes of food to El Comedor de la Kennedy, as part of a solidarity campaign launched in October to support the mission that no one goes to bed hungry.


“The teaching profession has always been a driving force of service and solidarity for Puerto Rico,” Bonilla Sánchez said in a written statement. “This effort demonstrates that education is not only experienced in the classroom, but also in every act of empathy that transforms lives. Thanks to our school communities, members, and families, today we reinforce the mission that no one on this island goes without a meal.”


During the visit to the community kitchen, AMPR representatives delivered the donation, which was collected with the participation of members, teachers, students, school staff, families and citizens who joined the effort. The collection included items such as pasta, beans, canned meats and vegetables, coffee, sugar, honey, cereals, UHT milk, soups, nutritional supplements, and cleaning products.


Chef Iván Clemente, founder of El Comedor de la Kennedy, expressed his gratitude for the support and emphasized that the teachers’ solidarity will allow them to replenish the necessary inventory to continue providing free meals to children, university students, senior citizens and families in need.
