Aguada Mayor Christian Cortés Feliciano, appointed by Popular Democratic Party (PDP) President Pablo José Hernández Rivera as the party’s “structural refoundation engineer,” held a meeting over the weekend with majority and minority municipal legislators at party headquarters in Puerta de Tierra.
“As part of the refoundation work, we have met with different sectors of the party,” Cortés Feliciano noted on Saturday. “We began with young people in Caguas, with public servants in Ponce, with women in Barceloneta, and today we are doing the same with municipal legislators. We discussed the important work they do in their municipalities and their suggestions for further transformation of the party. The mission is to consolidate the PDP as the largest electoral force in the country, capable of winning elections and governing responsibly.”
Hernández Rivera said “Christian Cortés is an exemplary public servant, with the ideal combination of experience in municipal administration and knowledge in law and engineering.”
“His leadership will be key to re-establishing the PDP’s structure and ensuring that the party is aligned with the needs of the people and the challenges of the future,” the party president added.
One of the participants, Niavelys Castro, stated that “we in the PDP are enjoying how productive this process of reflection and transformation is, and the municipal legislators are collaborating in a serious process to strengthen municipal administrations.”
As part of his assignment, Cortés is responsible for presenting a draft of new regulations reflecting the structural refoundation of the PDP by Sept. 30 of this year.
