The Caguas Prosecutor’s Office of the Justice Department filed a sexual assault charge against Daniel Roques Arroyo, 42, on Thursday for events that occurred while he was working as a doctor in the emergency room of a Caguas hospital.
Prosecutor Amed Rivera Millán, of the Specialized Unit for Domestic Violence, Sexual Crimes, and Child Abuse, filed the charge under Article 130 (h) of the Puerto Rico Penal Code.
According to the investigation by Agent Linnette Matos Rivera of the Police Bureaus’ Criminal Investigation Unit, the defendant sexually assaulted a 29-year-old woman who came to the Menonita Hospital on Dec. 3, 2024 for medical care.
Judge Lisa M. Durán Ortiz of the Caguas Court of First Instance found cause for arrest and set bail at $75,000. When he failed to post bail, Roques Arroyo was taken to jail.
The preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 5.
